Nicholas Rimmer was born in England and read Music at Clare College, Cambridge before studying piano at Hanover University of Music and Drama with Christopher Oakden. He continued his chamber music studies with Wolfram Rieger and the Alban Berg Quartet.

He won the 'Preis des Deutschen Musikwettbewerbs' twice over: as collaborative pianist in 2006 and with the Leibniz Trio in 2010. In 2009 he received the Parkhouse Award in London with Nils Mönkemeyer.

Rimmer has performed at internationally renowned festivals in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Aldeburgh, Schwetzingen, Ludwigsburg, Lucerne and Lockenhaus. He has appeared at major concert halls such as Wigmore Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, Konzerthaus Wien and Gasteig Munich. As a soloist he has played with the NDR Radiophilharmonie, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and Neue Lausitzer Philharmonie.
