This is a brilliant CD on which I feature only in two works. Kilian Herold, a friend and now Professor of clarinet in Freiburg unearthed these fascinating pieces by Mátyás Seiber which are all worth a listen. It's a very mixed CD - the quintet is folky and down-to-earth, the Pastorale for clarinet and piano is a beautiful, atmospheric miniature, and in contrast the humorous nonsense songs (Seiber, born in Hungary, fled to England in the 1930s from Nazi Germany and ended up setting Edward Lear amongst others) are real gems which will certainly raise a smile!
